Texas police have arrested four men connected to the Venezuelan street gang Tren de Aragua following a violent jewelry robbery in Northwest Dallas. On September 21, the suspects assaulted a woman in her garage, forced her into her home and stole $75,000 worth of jewelry.
The suspects, identified as Yean Brayhan Torralba, 20, Alberto Martinez Silva, 34, Manuel Hernandez-Hernandez, 28, and Wilmer Colmenares Gonzalez, 27, were apprehended after police used surveillance footage and fingerprint evidence to track them down. Gonzalez managed to barricade himself in a home, resulting in an eight-hour standoff with law enforcement before being arrested.
During the robbery, the attackers reportedly tied up the victim and made violent threats to ensure her compliance. The Tren de Aragua gang has been expanding its criminal operations in the United States, reportedly entering the country along with asylum-seeking migrants. The gang is involved in various illegal activities, including human trafficking and drug smuggling.
Authorities believe gang members have infiltrated migrant shelters in cities like New York, using them as staging grounds for criminal activities, including armed robberies. Law enforcement is raising alarms about the increasing influence of this gang in the U.S.
