The co-founder of the Los Angeles chapter of the leftist and racist organization “Black Lives Matter” (BLM) has made a peculiar series of postings on X. Melina Abdullah has suggested that fans of pop superstar Taylor Swift — commonly known as “Swifties” — are “racist.” She went on to ponder whether the Chief’s Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers was part of a “White supremacist conspiracy.”
Her Super Bowl Sunday pregame comment on X about Taylor Swift was this: “Why do I feel like it’s slightly racist to be a Taylor Swift fan?” She offered no specific explanation of why Swifties are racist.
Abdullah stated post-game: “Why do I feel like this was some right-wing, white-supremacist conspiracy?!?! Booooooo!!!!”
In another posting two days after the game she conflated the American Flag with racism, and in yet another she stated: “Virtually everything is racist.”
There were many X posters who found Abdullah’s comments offensive, objectionable, or non-sensical.

One posting featured a photo of Dr. Martin Luther King with a caption stating: “I had a dream, but y’all keep messing it up.”
There is no particular indication that Abdullah was engaging in “trolling” with these bizarre remarks. The account from which the postings were made does not appear to be a parody, but Abdullah’s verified account.
Her accusations are odd for a number of reasons. First, the Chiefs’ status as an NFL dynasty is absolutely due to its generationally talented quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is Black and won the game’s MVP. Second, the 49ers team they defeated is led by a White quarterback, Brock Purdie. Third, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelsey has a history of joining progressive players in kneeling for the National Anthem in support of BLM.
Additionally, five of the referees working the game were Black, and over 60% of the NFL players are Black.
Finally, Taylor Swift — who has notably been in a romantic super-couple relationship with Kelsey — has publicly checked every progressive and leftist box of woke viewpoints. She has had a history of support for Democratic candidates since 2018. Her personal politics are indistinguishable from any card-carrying BLM member.
When she isn’t stirring up hatred with the L.A. chapter of BLM, Abdullah teaches Pan-African Studies at Cal State University Los Angeles.
