Bukele’s Pro-Bitcoin Presidency Draws Conservative Support At Second Inauguration

El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, known for his pro-Bitcoin stance, was sworn in for a second term, attracting prominent American conservatives to the ceremony. Bukele, who won the election with an overwhelming 83% of the vote, has positioned himself as a leader committed to law and order and cryptocurrency innovation.

Among those attending the inauguration were Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and María Elvira Salazar (R-FL), and media personality Tucker Carlson. The presence of Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle further highlighted the international support for Bukele’s administration.

Sharing his experience on social media, Sen. Lee wrote, “In El Salvador for the inauguration of President Nayib Bukele. He defeated his principal opponent, Manuel Flores, in February’s presidential election. To the best of my knowledge, Bukele made no attempt to imprison Flores” inauguration.

Bukele’s government has been praised for its strong measures against gang violence and its recent decision to remove gender ideology from public schools. These actions have garnered significant support from American conservatives who see Bukele as a champion against Marxist influences.

The event, however, was not without its challenges. Authorities foiled a bomb threat attributed to the leftist FMNL Party by seizing explosive devices from a former rebel stronghold. Despite this, the inauguration proceeded smoothly, with Bukele emphasizing in his speech, “We have finally conquered fear and are a truly free country.”

Bukele’s pro-Bitcoin policies have also made headlines. His administration’s commitment to cryptocurrency has generated considerable excitement within the crypto community. As a recent report noted, Bukele’s re-election underscores his dedication to economic innovation through Bitcoin.

In addition to American conservatives, international dignitaries, including Spain’s King Felipe VI and Presidents Xiomara Castro of Honduras and Javier Milei of Argentina, attended the ceremony. This diverse attendance highlighted Bukele’s growing influence on the global stage.

Rep. Salazar expressed optimism about working with Bukele to address gang violence, stating, “Miami and its Central American community have a partner we can work with from Congress to successfully crush the gangs threatening our Hemisphere.” This sentiment was echoed by Eduardo Verástegui, who congratulated Bukele, emphasizing his commitment to combating human trafficking.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, representing President Joe Biden’s administration, also attended. He stated, “The U.S. stands ready to build on our partnership with El Salvador to foster economic growth and cooperate on regional migration and security.”

Bukele’s leadership and policies continue to attract significant international attention, particularly from those who support his tough stance on crime and his innovative approach to cryptocurrency.
