Conservatives Question FCC Decision To Approve Soros Radio Deal

The FCC has found itself at the center of controversy after fast-tracking George Soros’ acquisition of over 220 radio stations, sparking concerns about media control and election integrity. The decision came just weeks before the presidential election, leading critics to question the timing and motives.

FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr, a vocal critic of the decision, described it as “the worst abuse of agency process” during his time with the commission. Speaking to the New York Post, Carr criticized the FCC for bypassing public input and pushing the approval through in secret. Carr argued that the process lacked transparency, with Republican commissioners left out of key discussions.

The acquisition by Soros’ fund involves Audacy, a company that owns radio stations airing major conservative talk show hosts like Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin. Many are concerned that the takeover could impact the availability of conservative voices on these stations, especially as the nation approaches a critical election.

In addition to the Soros deal, Carr also highlighted the FCC’s recent extension granted to Dish Network, a company led by Democratic donor Charlie Ergen, which he described as another example of the agency’s left-leaning favoritism. The extension allows Dish to delay providing services to rural areas, raising concerns about the impact on rural Americans.

Sen. Mike Lee (R) took to social media to express his concerns, questioning the FCC’s decision to allow Soros’ acquisition so close to the election. “Soros buys 200 radio stations weeks before the election. FCC bypasses review process to approve the purchase. What could go wrong?” Lee’s comments echo a growing sentiment among conservatives that the media is increasingly biased.

Dish Network has defended its actions, arguing that their expansion will benefit consumers. However, the FCC’s decision-making process has left many conservatives worried about media control and the potential for election interference.
