DOGE Employees Face Online Attacks As Federal Prosecutors Step In

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has come under attack after several of its employees were publicly identified and later threatened online. U.S. Attorney Ed Martin confirmed that his office is now reviewing the matter to determine whether laws were broken.

Martin stated that federal prosecutors are actively working on the case. “We also have our prosecutors preparing,” he said, adding that his office is coordinating with the FBI and other agencies. Though Martin did not specify individuals responsible, he indicated that legal consequences may be forthcoming.

The situation escalated after Wired published the names of multiple DOGE employees, focusing on their youth and lack of government experience. The names were then circulated on X, where threats followed. Musk responded by posting, “You have committed a crime,” signaling that he believed legal action was warranted.

Martin, in a letter addressed to Musk, promised to protect DOGE staff. “We will pursue any and all legal action against anyone who impedes your work or threatens your people,” he wrote, drawing a contrast between his approach and that of the previous administration.

Some contend that naming government workers is not illegal, while others argue that the exposure of DOGE staff was meant to pressure and intimidate them. The legal debate over whether this constitutes doxing continues.

Musk has remained firm in his support of his employees, writing on X, “Time to confess: Media reports saying that @DOGE has some of the world’s best software engineers are in fact true.”
