FBI Investigates New Orleans Bomb Plot Following Terror Attack

The FBI is conducting an intensive investigation into a suspected terror cell responsible for a New Year’s attack in New Orleans that left 10 dead and 30 injured. Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, has been identified as the primary attacker, but officials believe others were involved.

Jabbar carried an ISIS flag during the assault and had firearms and bombs in his truck. The explosives, hidden in coolers, were wired for remote detonation. A detonator was found inside the vehicle, pointing to a coordinated attack plan.

Surveillance footage from the French Quarter captured three men and one woman planting bombs around the area. FBI officials have called on the public to provide information, emphasizing that Jabbar likely had accomplices.

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) said the FBI is “working to catch the other bad guys,” while Gov. Jeff Landry confirmed that law enforcement is “hunting some bad people down.” Officials are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of the suspects.

Investigators searched the home of Jabbar’s ex-wife, whose current husband reported that Jabbar exhibited alarming behavior tied to his recent conversion to Islam. Federal agents are exploring all possible connections to ISIS or related networks.

Reports indicate the FBI Hostage Rescue Team has been deployed to assist with the operation. The elite unit is equipped to handle complex and rapidly evolving threats such as those posed by terror cells.
