FBI Withholding Epstein Files Draws Outrage As Patel Promises Accountability

The FBI is facing backlash after Attorney General Pam Bondi revealed that its New York office had been withholding thousands of pages of Epstein-related case files. Bondi had requested the full set of documents but received only 200 pages, far less than what was expected as reported here.

Bondi sent a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel demanding that all withheld Epstein documents, including investigative files, recordings and records of his associates, be delivered by February 28. Patel responded by announcing an internal review and vowing to hold accountable anyone responsible for keeping evidence from the D.O.J.

Further controversy erupted when social media influencers visiting the White House were handed binders labeled The Epstein Files: Phase 1. The binders, which many expected to contain significant new details, were instead filled with redacted information, much of it already known. Many of those who received them were unaware of the contents until after media outlets published images of them holding the documents.

The public reaction has been swift, with many expressing outrage over yet another delay in uncovering the full truth. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) criticized the process, stating that she and her team had not been notified about the document handover despite their ongoing efforts to secure transparency.

Patel reassured the public that all missing Epstein records would be located and turned over. He stated that there would be “no cover-ups, no missing documents, and no stone left unturned” as his office investigates the withholding of materials.

With increasing scrutiny on the FBI, pressure is mounting to ensure the full Epstein case file, including a complete client list, is finally made public.
