Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) recently voiced concerns about the potential for establishment forces to resist President Donald Trump’s return to the White House if he wins the 2024 election. During an interview with Tucker Carlson, Vance highlighted the possibility that powerful entities, including the military, might not accept Trump’s leadership.
Vance expressed confidence that Trump would win, either through a decisive victory on Election Night or a closer result afterward. However, Carlson pressed Vance on whether the powers that be would allow Trump to govern. Vance admitted, “That’s what worries me,” pointing to the military as a potential obstacle.
Vance emphasized that the real issue in the 2020 election was not widespread voter fraud, but rather the use of ballot harvesting and Big Tech’s suppression of stories critical of Joe Biden. He expects these same tactics to be used in 2024 but still believes Trump will come out on top.
Carlson’s suggestion that the military, influenced by establishment elites, might try to block Trump’s agenda after his victory was met with agreement from Vance. The senator pointed out that the biggest threat to democracy is not Trump challenging the 2020 results, but the fact that Washington’s bureaucracy is disconnected from much of the American public.
Vance anticipates that Trump’s policy initiatives, particularly his plans to deport millions of illegal immigrants, will face fierce opposition. He suggested that critics would likely accuse Trump of “fascism” in an attempt to discredit him.
Despite the challenges ahead, Vance remains confident in Trump’s chances, citing poor polling numbers for Vice President Kamala Harris in key swing states as a reason for optimism.
