Michigan Border Agents Capture Suspected Gulf Cartel Hitman In Ongoing Crackdown

A man believed to be a cartel enforcer was arrested in Michigan as Border Patrol agents continued operations to dismantle criminal networks operating within the U.S. Detroit Sector Chief Patrol Agent John Morris announced the arrest of Melquiades Salgado-Garza, a suspected leader of hitmen for the Gulf Cartel.

Authorities confirmed that Salgado-Garza has a history of criminal activity, including burglary, forgery, and multiple immigration violations. His capture comes as Border Patrol and ICE expand efforts to locate and remove dangerous individuals from American communities.

In a separate operation, agents at the Sault Ste. Marie Station took a suspected member of Tren de Aragua into custody. Officials say the individual was arrested while attempting to recover a seized vehicle. Tren de Aragua is a Venezuelan prison gang known for its violent tactics and involvement in human trafficking.

Border Patrol agents at the Marysville Station also apprehended a Mexican national with a long history of illegal border crossings. The suspect has been arrested ten times since 1999 for illegally entering the U.S. and is now facing deportation.

Since President Trump returned to office, immigration enforcement efforts have accelerated, with over a thousand illegal immigrants arrested in recent weeks. ICE and Border Patrol continue to focus on criminals with ties to drug cartels and gang activity.

As federal authorities crack down on cartel operations, concerns have been raised about escalating threats. Reports indicate that Mexican criminal organizations are exploring the use of weaponized drones to target law enforcement. President Trump’s decision to classify cartels as foreign terrorist organizations provides new options for military intervention if necessary.
