Missing ISIS-Linked Migrants Raise National Security Concerns

Sen. Jim Banks (R-IN) warned Sunday that 50 illegal immigrants smuggled into the United States by ISIS-affiliated networks are unaccounted for. The revelation follows deadly New Year’s Eve attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas, both linked to ISIS-inspired actors.

Banks explained that the Department of Homeland Security reported 400 ISIS-linked individuals crossed the southern border last year. “We don’t know who 50 of them are or where they are,” Banks said during a televised interview, urging immediate action to locate the missing individuals.

The senator criticized the Biden administration’s border policies for creating vulnerabilities exploited by terrorist networks. He praised President Donald Trump’s incoming administration for its plans to strengthen border security and intelligence operations.

Banks also highlighted Trump’s success in defeating the ISIS caliphate during his first term, framing it as a hopeful sign of future progress. He pointed to key intelligence figures Kash Patel and Pete Hegseth as instrumental in addressing current threats.

The missing individuals are a growing concern as investigators examine New Year’s Eve terror incidents. In New Orleans, a vehicle attack on Bourbon Street killed 14 people, while a similar assault in Las Vegas caused additional casualties.

Efforts to locate the missing individuals continue as officials seek to prevent further attacks and secure the nation’s borders.
