MSNBC conducted a focus group with female voters to gauge their views on Vice President Kamala Harris as she becomes the presumptive Democratic nominee. The responses revealed significant skepticism about her capabilities. Political analyst Elise Jordan asked how Harris compares to President Joe Biden in terms of competency and experience.
One participant criticized Harris’s handling of the border crisis, saying, “She doesn’t even know what’s going on at the border. That’s what she was supposed to be doing and in charge of.” The group felt that Harris, despite failing in her assigned tasks, faced no consequences and was instead promoted.
When Jordan asked if there was anyone Harris could appoint as vice president to reassure them, the responses were mostly negative. “I would never consider voting for her,” one voter stated, while another said, “I would consider RFK Jr. way before voting for her.”
The discussion then shifted to whether Harris’s gender would influence their vote. The consensus was that gender alone was not enough to sway their support. One voter bluntly remarked, “I think she’s an idiot,” and others echoed similar sentiments. They emphasized that America’s first female president should be someone competent and accomplished.
The focus group highlighted Harris’s struggle to connect with voters, with many criticizing her lack of notable achievements and questioning her intelligence. One participant said, “Because she hasn’t done anything in the time that she’s had,” reflecting the general disappointment with her tenure.
These views underscore the significant hurdles Harris faces in gaining voter confidence and support as the Democratic nominee for the upcoming election.
