New York Man Allegedly Beats Trump Supporter Over ‘Trump 2024’ Hat In Grocery Store

A 60-year-old man from Bath, New York, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a Trump supporter over a “Trump 2024” hat at a local grocery store. Police say the attack left the Trump supporter with broken teeth and a bloody mouth.

The incident took place on the morning of November 1 at Tops Friendly Markets in Bath, according to a statement from the Village of Bath Police Department. Authorities report that the suspect, Robert Yott, became confrontational upon seeing the Trump hat, initiating an attack and punching the victim in the head and face. The police confirmed that Yott and the victim did not know each other, calling the incident a random act of violence.

Following the assault, Yott was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, a Class D felony, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor. Yott was taken to Steuben County Jail, where he awaits further court proceedings.

Incidents targeting Trump supporters have been reported across the country. Earlier this year, a New Jersey man known for driving a vehicle decorated with pro-Trump messages was hospitalized after a sledgehammer attack. Additionally, an elderly Massachusetts man was reportedly assaulted in June for holding a Trump sign.

Law enforcement officials continue to express concern over politically motivated attacks and encourage the public to report any similar incidents. Police are treating this case as a serious matter, as Yott remains in custody awaiting arraignment.
