In a surprising development, a PAC representing Nikki Haley voters has decided to support Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming general election. This endorsement follows President Joe Biden’s announcement that he will not seek reelection and his subsequent endorsement of Harris.
Biden praised Harris in his announcement, calling her selection as Vice President his “best decision” and urging Democrats to unite behind her to defeat Donald Trump in November. The PAC has rebranded itself as “Haley Voters for Harris” and emphasized the urgency of supporting Harris, highlighting her record as a “tough prosecutor.”
Craig Snyder, the director of the PAC, explained to Newsweek that Harris’s centrist stance makes her well-suited to appeal to Haley’s base and to defeat Trump. Snyder noted, “A tough former prosecutor, the Vice President comes from the centrist wing of the Democratic Party, not its leftmost fringe.”
Despite this endorsement, Nikki Haley has been advocating for unity within the Republican Party. At the Republican National Convention, she stressed the importance of supporting Trump to keep America strong and safe, even if there are occasional disagreements.
Harris has also received endorsements from other prominent Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, who praised Harris’s prosecutorial skills and urged collective effort to support her campaign. Clinton emphasized the need for unity to ensure Harris’s success against Trump and the Republican agenda.
