With Election Day looming, a Philadelphia man’s arrest for a bomb threat against the Montgomery County GOP office in Pennsylvania has raised alarms about a resurgence of political violence. The incident is the latest in a string of politically motivated attacks as tensions escalate nationwide.
Edward Cieri Jr., 39, allegedly threatened a GOP staffer by phone, stating he would “blow it up” or “shoot the place up.” The staffer, a Trump campaign worker alone in the office at the time, reported the call, leading Whitpain Township Police to trace the threat to Cieri. Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele condemned the threats as “unacceptable” and pledged to protect election workers from violence.
