Reddit Bans Forum On Trump Assassination Attempt, Adding To Big Tech Censorship Concerns

A forum dedicated to investigating the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump has been banned from Reddit, raising further concerns about Big Tech censorship. The forum, which focused on the actions of would-be assassin Thomas Crooks, allowed users to share information and ask questions about the July 13 attempt on Trump’s life. Crooks was killed by snipers, but many online believe there are unanswered questions about the incident.

Reddit banned the forum, citing violations of its rules against violent content, but did not provide specific examples of such violations.

This has led many to speculate that the real motive for the ban is to suppress discussion about the assassination attempt, especially ahead of the 2024 election. Trump’s defiant reaction — raising his fist and urging his supporters to “fight” — has become an iconic image among his base, yet platforms seem determined to downplay the significance of the event.

This censorship mirrors actions by other tech giants. Google removed autocomplete suggestions related to the assassination, and Facebook wrongly flagged photos of Trump after the event, claiming they were AI-generated. Both platforms corrected these actions after being accused of suppressing important information.

Is this about violent content, or is Big Tech trying to control the narrative? With Reddit joining Google and Facebook in limiting access to information about this historic event, many believe there is more to the story than what is being publicly shared.
