The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has launched a troubling attack against the Babylon Bee, a Christian satire site known for its humorous critiques of leftist ideology. The SPLC reportedly doxxed anonymous writers for Not the Bee, the non-satirical counterpart to the Babylon Bee, revealing personal information and reaching out to them directly.
Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon condemned the SPLC’s actions, calling them an assault on free speech. “They did it because they’re vindictive bullies who’ve admitted their aim is to ‘completely destroy’ individuals and organizations they disagree with by making them pay a steep price for speaking freely,” Dillon said.
According to a Nov. 20 article from Not the Bee, the SPLC exposed the identities, family connections, and locations of several writers. The writers’ alleged offense? Publishing material critical of progressive agendas.
The SPLC defended its actions in a statement to USA Today, claiming it aimed to protect marginalized communities. “Hateful content like the material created by Not the Bee writers works to dehumanize transgender individuals, the entire LGBTQ+ and immigrant communities, and people of color. This divisive commentary has no place in our society,” the SPLC said.
Not the Bee fired back, questioning the SPLC’s logic. “Think about it: The majority of Americans just voted for the enforcement of our border laws, removing the religious material of the gender cult from schools, and limiting the ability of doctors to sterilize kids.
Is the SPLC saying that the majority of Americans have ‘no place in our society’?”
Critics argue that the SPLC’s doxxing efforts aim to silence dissent and intimidate conservative voices, raising concerns about the erosion of free speech in America.
