Squatters Allegedly Take Over Home Of Elderly Colorado Man, Family Fights For Eviction

William Towns, a 76-year-old man suffering from dementia, is reportedly living in fear after squatters took over his home in Colorado Springs. Towns met a homeless woman while out walking his dog, and she offered to help with chores. However, the situation quickly escalated as the woman moved her boyfriend, son, and belongings into the home, according to Towns’ daughters.

The squatters have allegedly turned the home into a dangerous environment, starting a mushroom-growing operation and engaging in illegal drug use. Towns, who has lived in the house for decades, is now afraid for his safety. “They’ve taken over our dad’s home and harass him constantly,” the family wrote on a GoFundMe page aimed at raising funds for legal fees.

Despite repeated calls to the police, law enforcement has informed the family that because the squatters were initially invited into the home, they cannot be charged with trespassing. The family must now pursue a legal eviction, which could take several months and cost thousands of dollars in legal fees.

The Towns family, living on a fixed income, is struggling to cover the expenses associated with the eviction process. They are calling on the community for support and hoping to raise enough money to get the unwanted guests out of the home as soon as possible.

Towns’ daughters remain frustrated by the situation, but they are determined to fight for their father’s safety and reclaim his home.
