Trump Campaign Receives Flood of Donations Following Guilty Verdict

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign reported a surge in donations after a New York jury found him guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records. The influx of contributions was significant enough to temporarily crash the campaign’s donation page, which displayed a 500 error stating “something went wrong.”

Among the notable donors was Shaun Maguire, a partner at venture capital firm Sequoia Capital, who pledged $300,000 to Trump’s campaign following the verdict. “The timing isn’t a coincidence,” Maguire wrote on X.

Trump’s team addressed the outpouring of support on X, writing, “The American people see through Crooked Joe Biden’s rigged show trial. So many Americans were moved to donate to President Trump’s campaign that the WinRed pages went down.”

In addition to Maguire’s contribution, New York gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin claimed on the social media platform that he “secured a $800k donation from someone for President Trump’s Joint Fundraising Committee.” Zeldin described it as the easiest large request he had ever experienced.

The Manhattan case was brought by District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who previously worked for the Department of Justice under President Joe Biden. Trump is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11 after being convicted on all charges in the indictment.
