Verona Community Comes Together To Bring Christmas To Families In Need

In Verona, Virginia, a stay-at-home mother is ensuring that children in her community experience the joy of Christmas through her initiative, Christmas Palooza. Robbin Johnson started the program two years ago to help families who couldn’t afford gifts for their children.

“My children have needed help, and I know how hard it can be,” Johnson said. “I wanted to do something to help others.” Her efforts have grown significantly, and this year, she provided gifts to 31 families with support from her church and community.

The initiative has inspired those around her, including her daughter, Angel. “It’s amazing to see what she’s done,” Angel said. “She didn’t expect it to grow this much, but it’s helped so many people.”

Pastor Melinda Gartzke highlighted the impact of Johnson’s work. “These families were focused on basic needs like rent and gas,” Gartzke said. “Christmas gifts weren’t even a possibility without this program.”

Community donations have been essential to Christmas Palooza’s success, ensuring that families have something to celebrate during the holidays. The program has brought joy and hope to those facing difficult circumstances.

Looking forward, Johnson hopes to expand the initiative to reach even more families in need. “It’s incredible to see the difference we’ve made,” she said.
