President Joe Biden once again pushed the lie about his late son Beau Biden’s death being caused by his service in Iraq, this time during a phone call with the parents of a fallen soldier.
SPC Kennedy Sanders was one of three American service members who was killed in the drone strike in Syria executed by Iran-backed terrorists over the weekend. Biden made a phone call to Sanders’ parents, Oneida and Shawn Sanders, to express sympathy for their daughter’s death.
“Shawn, I wish I didn’t have to make this call. I know there’s nothing anybody can say or do to ease the pain. I’ve been there,” Biden began. “I just want you to know that I… you’re in my prayers and my heart.”
The president initially moved the parents to tears after informing them that their daughter would be posthumously awarded the rank of Sergeant.
“Oh wow, that is the best news I’ve heard today, thank you so much. You don’t know how much that means to us,” Oneida Sanders replied.
However, the president then pivoted to talking about himself and the loss of his son, Beau Biden, who died of brain cancer in 2015 — though Biden has repeatedly pushed false claims about his son’s death, including trying to connect Beau’s death to his time in Iraq and even directly stating that his son “lost his life in Iraq. This time, the president didn’t make this blatantly false claim, though he did insinuate the death was connected to his service.
“Oh, well, I tell you what, it means a lot to me. My son spent a year in Iraq; that’s how I lost him,” Biden told the Sanders family. “You know, 1%, 1% of all these kids are the ones that take care of 99% of us.”

There is no evidence linking Beau Biden’s death to his service in Iraq, as he died of brain cancer six years after his deployment to Iraq with the Delaware National Guard ended. Nonetheless, Biden has repeatedly made false or unproven claims about his son’s death, including arguing that exposure to toxic fumes from burn pits — which have been linked to colorectal cancers, esophageal cancers and liver cancers — caused his son’s brain tumor.
This isn’t the first time that Biden lied about his son to the family of a fallen soldier.
Last year, Cheryl Rex — mother of Lance Cpl. Dylan Merola, who was killed during Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal — came forward to reveal that Biden claimed while consoling her about her son’s death that he had lost Beau in Iraq and “brought him home in a flag-draped coffin.”

Another soldier who was wounded during the Afghanistan withdrawal, Marine SGT Tyler Vargas, also came forward to detail how Biden made his entire visit about Beau.

Tyler Vargas-Andrews, a Marine who survived the explosion in Kabul that killed 13 Americans, says that when Joe and Jill Biden came to his hospital room, the president reached out to shake his hand even though his arm was gone, immediately started talking about his son, and… pic.twitter.com/5axewScAPk
