In Citrus Heights, California, a father is being praised for his bravery after subduing a violent intruder who attacked his children. The incident occurred Thursday evening around 5:30 p.m. when Bobby Tucker, a security guard, discovered the assailant in his home.
Tucker found the intruder assaulting his 14-year-old son, who was being choked from behind. The attacker then targeted Tucker’s 11-year-old child. Acting quickly to protect his children, Tucker intervened, striking the intruder repeatedly.
“I wasn’t thinking of anything, just getting that guy off my son,” Tucker recounted. “I blanked out for a while, probably scared my kids too. Hitting the guy, hitting the guy, and I could hear them saying someone call 911.”
The Citrus Heights police soon arrived, taking the intruder into custody. He faces felony charges of burglary and assault. The man was unresponsive when paramedics arrived and had to be transported on a stretcher. Tucker shared images of the intruder before and after the incident.
Tucker explained that the door had been left unlocked because his children had just taken out the trash. “He chose the wrong house to mess with,” Tucker said, emphasizing the need for home security. He advised other homeowners to keep doors locked, use alarm systems, and have self-defense tools like mace or firearms ready.
Tucker is seeking therapy for his children, who were traumatized by the attack. Despite the severity of the incident, Tucker will not face any charges. The intruder, a 29-year-old man, remains in custody.
Citrus Heights, with a population of approximately 86,000, is located about 15 miles northeast of Sacramento. The incident has highlighted the importance of home security, with local news airing surveillance footage and Tucker’s images to warn residents about potential dangers.
