U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized a record of 6.5 tons of methamphetamine valued at more than $117 million at Eagle Pass, TX, on Feb. 18, according to the CBP website.
Over the past year, Eagle Pass has attracted thousands of illegal immigrants and Texas National Guard troops trying to stop them.
The area is a focal point of the political and legal standoff between Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott and President Joe Biden’s Democratic administration, according to Reuters.
CBD Director of Field Operations at the Laredo Field Office Donald Kusser said, “This gargantuan methamphetamine seizure, the largest ever taken down by CBP officers at a port of entry, uniquely illustrates the serious narcotics threat our officers face on a daily basis.”

The fact emphasized the CBD’s “effectiveness at utilizing our technological enforcement tools, expertise and experience to zero in on these threats,” Kusser continued.
“This seizure exemplifies our officers’ steadfast commitment to advancing CBP’s priority border security mission while facilitating lawful trade and travel.”
The CBD announcement comes at a time when there is increasing scrutiny of the Biden administration’s handling of border security, according to Just the News.
House Republicans went so far as to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Biden is reportedly considering executive actions to secure the border, something he could have done long ago. He also could have left the Trump policies in place and avoided the entire fiasco.
Though Biden has not announced what his executive actions will be, rumors have purportedly caused pushback from progressives who favor loose immigration policies, according to Just the News.
The CBD busted numerous drug smugglers along the southern border last year. In one example, CBD officers assigned to the World Trade Bridge seized drugs that totaled over $10.2 million in December.
Across the border, Mexican authorities say they found a massive drug lab in Sonora with 1 billion doses of drugs and 45 tons of chemicals used to make the drugs, according to 11 Alive.
The amount of drugs being funneled into the U.S. is astonishing. Authorities capture what contraband they can and must be commended. It is safe to say, however, a lot more gets through and is sold on American streets.
Biden’s open border policies are killing the Americans the government is sworn to protect.
