The prominent film “Sound of Freedom” by Angel Studios outgrossed singer Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” movie to finish 10th place in 2023 box office sales in the U.S.
“Sound of Freedom” is a movie that deals with the horrors of human trafficking. It stars actor Jim Caviezel as Tim Ballard, a former U.S. Department of Homeland Security agent who fled the department to combat the devastating issue occurring worldwide, specifically by rescuing a young girl trafficked in South America.
The film was the 10th highest grossing after receiving a little more than $184 million domestically at the end of 2023, according to Christian Headlines.
“Sound of Freedom” was able to sneak into 10th place ahead of Swift’s movie, which landed in the 11th spot after obtaining less than $180 million.
Sound of Freedom is America’s #1 movie, taking the top spot at the box office on Independence Day.

“Sound of Freedom” instantly became a hit in theaters across America. The movie earned $19 million at the box office in its opening weekend, trouncing films with larger budgets, such as “Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny” and actor Tom Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One.”
Angel Studios’ anti-human trafficking film also became the highest-grossing independent film since the release of “Parasite” in 2019.
The producer of “Sound of Freedom,” Eduardo Verastegui, told Fox and Friends that he poured his heart and soul into the film’s creation.
“I put my life in this movie because this movie is bigger than ourselves,” Verastegui previously said while on the program. “I was praying to God for an angel to come and rescue this film.”
“And what are the odds that from all the studios, the one that picked this movie is called Angel Studios?” he added.
The top three movies at the domestic box office in 2023 were “Barbie,” which garnered $636 million, “The Super Mario Bros Movie,” which received $575 million and “Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse,” which raked $381 million.
In fourth place was the final installment in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” with $358 billion at the box office, followed by the historical film “Oppenheimer,” which earned $326 in the U.S.
