On Friday, former President Donald Trump endorsed retired U.S. Navy SEAL and businessman Tim Sheehy.
Trump did so just hours after Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) announced that he was getting into the race, reported the Daily Wire.
“I LOVE MONTANA!” Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social. “Tim Sheehy is an American Hero and highly successful Businessman from the Great State of Montana.”

“He is strongly supported by our incredible Chairman of the NRSC, Steve Daines, and many other patriotic Senators and Republicans who have endorsed our Campaign to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” the post continued.
“I also respect Matt Rosendale and was very happy to Endorse him in the past—and will Endorse him again in the future should he decide to change course and run for his Congressional Seat.”
Republicans wanted to avoid Rosendale entering into the race, according to the Daily Wire.
Now, instead of Sheehy focusing on unseating Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT), he has to spend resources and time in what very well could be an intense primary fight.
“But in this instance,” Trump continued, “Tim is the candidate who is currently best-positioned to DEFEAT Lazy Jon Tester and Regain the Republican Majority in the United States Senate.”
“Tim is a Political Outsider, Strong on the Border, the Military/Vets, and our constantly under siege Second Amendment.”
Trump likes outsiders who are also American patriots. Sheehy fits the bill.
Rosendale, on the other hand, though a conservative, can be seen as more of a political insider.
He was elected to the Montana House of Representatives in 2010 and served there for two years. He was then elected to four years in the Montana Senate and served as the Senate Majority Leader.
Rosendale currently serves in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Montana’s 2nd District.
In Trump’s view, Sheehy “will stand tall in the fight against the Radical Left Democrats, who are Destroying our Country. Also, he is far more likely to Defeat Lazy Jon.”
“America First Patriot Tim Sheehy has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” Trump concluded.
